Adjudications, Clinics and Workshops
The migration of the Caribbean steel band movement to other cultures world wide is one of the major musical developments of recent years. Interest and activity in this art form in the USA has generated unique musical and social opportunities for educators and community leaders.
Drawing on long experience with steel drums (pans); Marc Svaline and James Leyden, as teachers, arrangers and publishers, are currently involved with and available for Steel Band Festival Adjudications, Clinics and Workshops. Since 1999, their annual workshop, "The Steel Band in The School and Communitiy" offered at Villanova University's Summer Music Program has drawn music teachers from a 5 state area to experience the excitement and possibilities of initiating their own steel band programs.
Also, as a part of the Delaware State Education Department's commitment to establish Steel Drum programs in all of its middle schools, Marc Svaline and James Leyden are currently presenting annual summer workshops with Delaware Middle School teachers.
